• Hello, my name is Walter Hanson. Since the beginning the 2013-14 school year I have been the Middle and High School Social Studies teacher here at Engadine Consolidated Schools.

I have lived in the U.P. my entire life and am thrilled and excited to be working here in Engadine. I attended several schools in my pursuit of teaching degree to include UW- Marinette and Northern Michigan University. In the end I graduated with a major in Social Studies and minors in Physical Education, History, and Military Science in 2013.

In my spare time I love to mountain bike, hike, fish, hunt, work on projects in my garage, and coach. Growing up I participated and enjoyed a variety of sports to include football, basketball, track and field, and cross country. In return, I love to coach all different types of sports. Currently, I am the Varsity Boys Basketball coach and have helped out with football and track here at Engadine.

Since 2006, I have been in the Michigan Army National Guard. At NMU I attended and graduated from the ROTC program and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 2009.  In 2010, I was deployed to Afghanistan as a Platoon Leader. I am currently serving as the Executive Officer at the 1437th MRBC located in Sault Ste. Marie.
